Nasa’s Mars Lander: Phoenix, which successfully reached its destination on 25th May 2008, has sent back the latest images from Mars.
1. Rocks on the Surface of Mars.
2. The flat Marsian Landscape of the Northern Polar Region.
3. The Probes foot sitting on the planets surface.
The Phoenix will dig for water in the form of ice, which is thought to be just under the surface of the planet. It is intended to establish whether Mars has the basic building blocks of life.
4. The Phoenix is one of a number of Probes which has been sent to Mars. However, the Phoenix has landed much further north than ever before.
5. This image, which was taken from beneath the Phoenix, is believed to show ice on the surface of Mars. It is thought that it was exposed when the probes thrusters displaced soil upon landing.
